When using the internal authorization server or an external authorization server, it is important that the DINGO device has been assigned a globally unique identifier (UUID). The access token generated by the internal or external authorization server is specific for the globally unique identifier of the device. This means that an access token generated for one device can not be used for another. However the unique identifier can also identify a group instead of a device. In that case the access token can be used for all devices that are members of the group.

The globally unique identifier of a device can be made a member of a globally unique group identifier. This means that an access token can be generate for a group of devices (group UUID). This option is only available when using the external authorization server setup. All devices in the group need to be set up to use the same external authorization server.
